It slips onto your USB cable and provides a “protective barrier between your device and ‘juice-jacking’ hackers”, according to Shenzhen Boesy Technology Co., Ltd, the manufacturer company behind it.

In other words, you can charge your gadgets from public computers without worrying about anyone stealing your data. Your phone could even be at risk of data theft from your own computer, if someone has hacked it and installed malware.

So how does the USB Condom work? It cuts off the data pins in the USB cable and only allows the power pins to connect to the computer ( our new fast charge version UCD02 built in intelligent chips and stop the data transferring through IC, it's not just cutting off the data pins ). Hence your device can charge, but no data can be transferred or pilfered by digital ne’er-do-wells.

“Malicious hackers can easily set up a charging kiosk to ‘hijack’ your device’s data or even upload malware,”  the engineer said. “If you’re going to run around plugging your phone into strange USB ports, at least be safe about it.”

When you need a quick charge of your phone or other device, it’s easy to just connect it into any untrusted computer or public charging station. The chance of malicious data getting through to your phone is pretty slim, but it still exists.

You should use this USB shield at the places which you are not sure safe or not, or at home that you don't want your data/information sync automatic. Especially at the following places.

Note: The blocker will not solve charging issues caused by a low quality or extra long cable, a low powered socket (eg some car sockets) or a device which requires a non-standard signal (eg some SatNavs / DashCams). In these cases please use a different charger or cable. Devices which charge using Qualcomm Quick Charge, Samsung Adaptive Fast Charge, Motorola TurboPower or similar standards require data transfer to be enabled and a compatible charger, and so will not charge at extra fast speeds from normal USB sockets or with a data blocker.
